About Notum & Mads Pagh

I'm Mads Pagh — a Computer Science student at Aarhus University and the solo developer of Notum Learn. I built Notum to create a fast, modern spaced repetition tool for studying complex technical topics.

The Story Behind Notum Learn

I started building Notum Learn while studying Computer Science at Aarhus University. During my coursework in algorithms, machine learning, and distributed systems, I needed a flashcard tool that could seamlessly handle LaTeX math formulas, syntax-highlighted code blocks, and structured concept graphs without getting in the way.

Many existing flashcard apps felt dated or required complex plugins for basic features like LaTeX or clean mobile sync. I wanted a clean, fast web application focused on active recall and Spaced Repetition (SRS) that felt modern and effortless to use.

Notum Learn is designed to make memorization and long-term retention simple for university students, programmers, medical students, and self-learners.

Academic & Technical Background

I completed my BSc in Computer Science at Aarhus University (2022–2025) and am currently pursuing my MSc with a focus on Data-Intensive Systems (2025–2027), covering deep learning models, system architecture, and high-performance data processing.

Alongside my studies, I've worked as a Teaching Assistant (Instruktor) at Aarhus University in Human-Computer Interaction (UI/UX design) and Experimental System Development (Agile/Scrum). I've also worked with industrial CAD data automation at Grundfos, and I run the YouTube channel CS Survivalist where I explain core computer science topics visually.

What Makes Notum Learn Different

Spaced Repetition Algorithm

Calculates card review intervals based on recall speed and confidence, helping you remember more in less study time.

LaTeX & Syntax Highlighting

Built for STEM, mathematics, engineering, and programming with full KaTeX math rendering and code blocks.

Concept Graphs & Collections

Organize knowledge into interconnected concept graphs and shared public collections for collaborative learning.
